SPCA is non profit organization that helps to prevent the increasing numbers of abandoned, unwanted of dogs and cats and the cruelty towards animals. They are an animal welfare organization whose operations is include protecting and providing shelter to animals in danger.and help them to get adopted.
The Sabah SPCA, is founded 3 years ago and they are striving through to spread the responsible pet ownership awareness throughout the state. Despite the effort of recruiting new members and volunteers, they also run pet adoption programme and lobbying the government towards more effective legistlation and human enforcemant.
As part of a layman role in promoting the responsible pet ownership awarenes, i am contributing my thought towards my friends and blog readers here.... It doesn matter if you have a kampung dog, mix breed or a pure breed high end pet... A basic dog care requirement is necessary for any pet owners to know:-
1. An annual dog license in accordance with dovernment regulations.
(DBKK office to obtain form)
2. Annual Vaccination which covers 7 canine diseases-distemper,leptospirosis,canine hepatitis,
Parvo virus, canine adeno virus type II, para influenza and corona virus. Regular de worm
also recommended.
3. Dogs that kep outdoor, or spend a lot of their time outdoors should be placed on preventative
heatworm medication.
4. Veterinary care schedule
5. Trainning and exercising your dog, wether by yourself or a professional, will involve time or
money or both.
6. Providing a balance diet for your dog.
7. Making the necessary arrangements for your dog's needs if you go away on vacation.
8. To spayed or neutered for the well being of your dogs health, if there is no
intention for breeding.
This is what i want to emphasize here today, to spayed your dog to prevent mass re production purposes of unwanted dogs. Please support SPCA KK of their effort on Spaying campaign on the 4th-11 Oct 2009, free counselling and advice,Responsible Pet ownership, spaying and neutering.
They will be locating at Atrium of Citymall on the 4th Oct 09, and at Gaya Street Sunday Market on the 11th Oct 09...
